FM Zarif, German counterpart discuss issues of mutual interest in Geneva

TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has held talks with his German counterpart Heiko Maas in the Swiss city of Geneva on the sidelines of a conference on Afghanistan.

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs' website, in the meeting, the two top diplomats discussed bilateral ties, regional developments, and other issues of mutual interest.

They also talked about the latest developments regarding Europe's efforts to facilitate doing business with the Islamic Republic in the face of US sanctions.

The Foreign Minister Zarif is in the Swiss city of Geneva to attend a ministerial conference on Afghanistan, co-chaired by the Afghan Government and the UN, which ended on Wednesday. Zarif deivered a speech at the international event.

On the sidelines of the Genevea Conference, in addtion to German foreign minister , Zarif has so far met and held talks with several other international officials and political figures including the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the president and chief executive officer of Afghanistan, WIPO general director, and EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.
